Standard for safety for LED lighting fixtures

Luminaires with integrated LED or LED modules shall be assessed for blue light hazards in accordance with IEC/TR 62778.

For children’s portable lamps and small night lights, the blue light hazard level measured at a distance of 200 mm shall not exceed RG1.

For portable lamps and hand lamps, if the blue light hazard level measured at a distance of 200 mm exceeds RG1, the symbol “Do not stare at the light source” shall be marked in a conspicuous position outside the lamp, as shown in the following figure. At the same time, the position of the symbol shall ensure that the user cannot see the light source at the same time as the symbol. According to the above requirements, enterprises shall not mark the symbol on the installation surface or luminous surface of LED desk lamps.

For stationary lamps, if the blue light hazard level measured at a distance of 200 mm exceeds RG1, a test is required to determine that the lamp is just at the critical distance of RG1.
