What is LED light?
2022-06-22
LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a solid-state semiconductor device that directly converts electricity into light. The core of LED is a semiconductor wafer, one end of which is connected to a bracket with a negative terminal and the other end is connected to a positive terminal of a power supply, so that the whole wafer is encapsulated in epoxy resin.
Semiconductor chips consist of two parts, P-type semiconductors (dominated by holes) and N-type semiconductors (dominated by electrons). But when these two semiconductors are connected, a P-N junction is formed between them. When current is applied to the chip through the wire, the electrons are pushed into the P region, where they recombine with holes and emit energy in the form of photons, which is how LED emits light. The wavelength and color of light are determined by the material forming the P-N junction.
Compared with ordinary fluorescent lamps, LED fluorescent lamps have the following advantages:
1. Energy saving. 2. Long-life LED lamp. 3. Good applicability: The size of a single LED is small and can be made into any shape. 4. The response time is short, which is NS (nanosecond) response time, while the response time of ordinary lamps is MS (millisecond) response time. 5. Environmentally friendly with no harmful metal, and easy to recycle waste. 6. Bright color, pure luminous color and narrow spectral range, which can be mixed with red, green and blue primary colors into color or white light.
